A Morning with Onepercent
On Monday 15th June, we were invited by Onepercent to a beautifully curated morning celebrating art, design and the role both play in shaping the spaces we inhabit.
The event marked the launch of Onepercent's new Art Advisory service, an initiative designed to help clients, designers and architects integrate carefully selected artwork into residential, hospitality and commercial projects. To mark the occasion, guests were treated to a lecture by architect, designer and artist Alessandro Isola, whose multidisciplinary practice spans architecture, product design and sculpture.
Throughout his presentation, Alessandro demonstrated a way of working that refuses to separate architecture from art. His projects move fluidly between disciplines, exploring how objects, spaces and artistic interventions can shape our experience of the built environment. It was a fascinating insight into a practice where creativity is not confined to a single scale or medium, but allowed to move freely between them.
The launch also provided an opportunity to learn more about Onepercent's new advisory offering. Every three months, the showroom will host a curated selection of works by different artists, overseen by curator Andrew Borg Wirth. The intention is to create an evolving collection that allows clients to experience artwork within a designed setting, helping them find pieces that feel right for their homes, workplaces or hospitality projects.
For us, this is a particularly welcome development. Artwork is often one of the most personal and transformative elements within an interior, yet it is frequently left until the final stages of a project. By bringing curation into the design process earlier, clients are able to consider art as an integral part of a space rather than an afterthought.
As regular collaborators with Onepercent, we already rely on the showroom as a resource when developing interior schemes. The addition of a dedicated art advisory service expands that offering significantly. Whether selecting from works currently on display or briefing Andrew on a specific location, scale or aesthetic direction, the service provides a thoughtful route towards finding artwork that genuinely belongs within a project.
What stood out most during the morning was the shared understanding that great interiors are not simply collections of furniture, finishes and materials. They are layered environments shaped by objects, stories and artistic expression. Art has the ability to create focal points, provoke conversation and establish an emotional connection to a space in ways that few other design elements can.
