Back at Drive: A Custom Display for a fun Colab!

When Drive Fitness founders Zara and Annabel approached Amanche about launching a branded merchandise collection at their St Julian's location, the brief went beyond simply finding somewhere to hang clothes. They wanted the collection, a collaboration between Drive Fitness and Maltese fashion label Parascandalo, to feel like an extension of the space itself, not an afterthought.

Amanche had already designed the Drive Fitness second interior in St Julian's in collaboration with architect Paula Agius Vadala, and the visual language of that space is immediately legible: terracotta-toned walls, cork flooring, oversized cluster pendant lights in black and white, and a palette that sits somewhere between industrial warmth and contemporary boutique fitness. It was a considered environment. Whatever came next had to belong to it.

The solution was a bespoke freestanding display unit, an L-shaped steel mesh frame powder-coated in the same coral-pink tone that runs through the gym's interior, designed to function simultaneously as a retail fixture and a design feature. The unit sits flush against the wall near the entrance, positioned so that it reads as part of the architecture rather than furniture brought in from elsewhere. Custom hooks allow pieces to be rearranged and restocked with ease, while the open mesh structure keeps the display visually light, letting the wall colour and the pieces themselves do the work.

The collection is the result of a collaboration between Drive Fitness and Marco Parascandalo, founder of the contemporary Maltese label Parascandalo. Featuring oversized and cropped tees, sweatshirts, sports bras, leggings, caps and tote bags, the range combines Drive's bold typography with Parascandalo's graphic design approach in a restrained palette of black, white, blush and slate.

For Amanche, the project marked a first: designing a retail display integrated within a fitness environment. More than a point of sale, the installation functions as a seamless part of the interior while allowing members to purchase pieces directly from the wall.

The project reflects a wider shift in how fitness brands are evolving, building identities that extend beyond the gym floor into lifestyle and fashion. It also represents a direction Amanche is keen to explore further, where product, display and interior are conceived as a single design proposition.

The Drive x Parascandalo collection is available now at Drive Fitness St Julian's.
